Google Photos: Backup & Edit

recently there’s been an issue where i somehow can’t play any sound while i have a video playing sound or no sound while i’m in google photos sometimes the video doesn’t even play if i have youtube in the background sound on or off

I love Google Photos but it’ll the collage feature could use a revamp and more simple collage options without borders. Another great option would be to have the duplicate photos indefinitely an option, Google knows exactly what the photos are and when some actually look similar so it would be nice to clear up some space easier. A sliding feature would also be beneficial, that way you can slide the scroll bar side to side to compare photos. An OPTION to omit viewing archived photos when trying to search for photos. Just overall better tools/features would be nice.

When i am tapping on collection it always stuck and i can not even do anything in this app.. this is very annoying and it should be fixed immediately..i did update and also i did many things to fix this problem but nothing is working..

Can anybody please tell me how to unhide the app? I tapped the wrong thing when I was trying to require a passcode to open it. It doesn’t show up on my search or on my Home Screen but when I go to the App Store it says open. The only way I can access the app is to go to the App Store search for it and open it. Thank you.

Google Photos was a black screen all day until I uninstalled and reinstall app, now it’s working.

Make sure you disable sync if you want to delete photos from the Google drive but not from your device, otherwise it will also be deleted from your device. And you only have 30 days, if you haven't permantly deleted from Google drive, to recover it. There were several important videos I thought were saved on an older phone so it wouldn't take up space on my new phone and didn't think I needed it on Google drive. Not the case, if that old phone has your Google account logged on and it's set to sync and you delete from the Google drive, the photo or video is deleted. I would think if you delete from Google drive it's only from that drive and not from any and all connected devices. Also assumed it only synced if you add or delete from your device, and not from their drive. Now I have to find a third party app to try to recover those videos. No thanks to Google. So if you want to delete from their drive but not from your device, make absolutely sure "sync" is turned off.

I used to use this app a lot for photo sharing, but I do not want to give FULL access to my ENTIRE photo library. One time, I allowed full access just to test it, and it immediately started pushing me to “back up” all my photos. Including NUDE PHOTOS onto my work email. After all my personal photos got pushed to Google Workplace Cloud, I started getting charged for storage! I don’t want or need FULL STORAGE, I just wanted to share a few photos. Worse, when I tried to delete those nude photos later, I couldn’t find a straightforward way to remove them. I still have over 18k photos sitting in Google Cloud. Why? The newly added photos blended by date across all other thousands photos, so there was no way to Select All recent additions and delete them. Now, if I only give LIMITED access to my photo library, the app won’t allow me to upload any photos whatsoever. That feels suspicious and monopolistic! No other photo apps I use (IG, FB, editing apps) demand full access like this. Google knows most people have a Gmail account, and they’re using that convenience to funnel users into giving up privacy to train their AI models on everyone’s photos, while charging them for storage. When I try using the web browser version, the Google devs have “bricked” / closed up any possible way to share photos without giving them full access to my entire life. This is aggressive and privacy-unfriendly. It makes me dislike Google.

The new update automatically freezes when you click the Collections tab. Then it takes multiple times opening and closing the app to get the Collections tab to actually work. This has been going on for over a month and is very frustrating. I’ve been leaving the app open all the time so I don’t have to close-open the it a million times for the Collection tab to work. But suddenly tonight, when I DON’T close the app, but go to a different window on my phone and then eventually return to Google Photos…it’s gone to back to the Photos tab and I have to go through the circus of getting the Collections tab open again. I rely on Albums. I also rely on this app, but it’s practically unusable like this. Can you PLEASE fix it?

I love the memories and it is my backup that is my only way to see some lost photos

the app is broken, every time i want to search for something using Gemini, the app freezes and i have to restart it.

I know I have sent this review but I’m sending it again to let you know I hate the update that changed the way my photos are arranged…if I had an option I would not use Google Photos app, it’s very frustrating to look at my photos!!!

When I click on the search button, it takes me to a page that is trying to get me to agree to some things regarding Gemini. There are two blue buttons on the bottom of the screen, but I can only see the very tops and can’t see what they actually say. So how am I supposed to choose? You have made the search function useless to me.
