PromptSmart Pro - Teleprompter

I paid for the subscription and can’t get any help. Used to be able to upload scripts from google drive but after the update I only get errors. (Even scripts that I was able to update a few days ago.) Getting in touch with anyone for help is impossible. It’s such a shame because this app has so much potential. As of now I’d recommend looking for a different app. This one has been way too buggy.

This app used to work great. Now over the past few weeks, it just doesn’t work at all. It stops in the middle of a sentence, and won’t continue… very, very frustrating…

I’m new to the app, and love so much about the set-up and functionality. However, I’m finding some aspects so buggy that I can’t recommend it right now. Every time I try to import a script via Google Doc, it either tells me the file can’t convert (direct import) or it spins forever (trying to use the subscription site). There’s no way to delete a script once the file won’t convert, so now I’ve got tons of scripts that are not usable filling up my list. I bought the pro version (subscribed) and I thought that might fix some of these issues, but it hasn’t, and there is nothing on the “file won’t convert” error in Help. So far the only way I can add a script is by manually copying and pasting, which works, but is nowhere near as efficient as I would hope for a $30 app with a monthly subscription. I’m frustrated but willing to stick with it, because when it works, it’s brilliant.

The suite of features is good at a glace, but the app crashes frequently and many features are locked behind a subscription on an app you’ve already shelled out $30 for. Absolutely absurd. The pay until you die model needs to vanish ASAP.

I was looking for a comfortable teleprompter, and this application has great features, but the payment process was tricky. I subscribed for a year at $29.99, yet it still doesn’t work properly and demands I purchase an additional extension for around $8 a month. I find it shady to be charged twice for the same app’s limited features. I prefer transparency when it comes to app pricing. I’m canceling and will find a better option.

I have been using this app for about four years now, and absolutely love almost everything about it. I have used it both on my iPad and my newer MacBook (I think the M-series processors allow you to run iOS apps?). I have a professional microphone system that I plug into my iPad via USB-C, and I load my scripts into the app. What I love most is that it’s not a constant speed…it’s actually listening to your voice and moving the text at whatever speed you’re speaking. So if you slow down, or have to re-record a section, it pauses and lets you catch up. I also love that I can have scripts saved to the cloud, because I work between two iPads and my MacBook. My only minor complaint is that it makes me log in occasionally…but it doesn’t say “log in,” it shows you the plans and it acts like you’re signing up again, even though you’ve paid. But it does not charge you again. You’re essentially re-activating the app. This app is indispensable to my voiceover work!

Once useful, but now plagued with showstopping bugs. First, good luck trying to get it to honor the font settings in its settings menu. Didn’t want a screen of black text on a black background? Too bad. Second, at the end of playback, if you don’t catch it in time, it completely blanks the iPad screen, in a way that even the remote won’t let you reset, forcing me to walk all the way over to the prompter to restart it each time. Third, it’s guaranteed to force you to log in again at the very most inconvenient time. I’ve really had it with this thing. The subscription is way too pricey for an unusable app. I used to go along with it for the sake of the voice-follow feature, but it’s got way more expensive and way less usable since then. I’m out.

Liked it better when it was free. When I started to have to pay for the app the Voice-Activation never worked again.

I loved this app for about a year but now it just doesn’t work. It rarely follows the sound of my voice. Basically a useless app.

Has potential, but I signed up for a free trial and I don’t have access to any of the features - not least of all being able to video record myself and run the Teleprompter at the same time. Will update the review if I get customer service to help me fix the issue.

I have to say that obtaining this app is the most confusing experience I have ever had. In the description it talks about the price being 1.99 monthly or 19.99 and that you will see the charge after your trial period is over. When I downloaded it said 29.99 and I suppose that is for a year? I open the app and it asks me to activate it and then says it is 3.99 or 39.99, how much is this thing? I am concerned that I won’t be able to read the font at the largest available size. And I am concerned about whether or not I can live with the minimal lighting and other camera effects. I Definately need a trial. I see no way to communicate other than here. How would you ever actually cancel the trial-with no way to communicate with support. It is to bad, the review are great and I was hopeful. I am going to delete the app and I hope I don’t see a charge that I will have to spend time chasing down for a refund.

The text on this app has a maximum of “10”. Even the maximum size is small. When I’m speaking in public while looking at the audience and back down again to quickly see the next words in the speech, I need larger text. This lack of text size makes it useful for me. I had hope for a good teleprompter app, but this is a major design flaw. I have requested a refund from Apple.

First off - NON-REFUNDABLE - beware. The “voice track” feature works poorly at best. AND if i set to regular scrolling, it keeps going back to voice track. NOT intuitive, I’m pretty savvy but this is nowhere near $30 software. the free version is barely representative of the full version. I’m on an iPad Air M2, & iPhone. Cannot recommend.

The voice track barely works. It doesn’t track my subjects voice at all in a quiet room with good vocal volume. Wastes a lot of time and frustrates everyone on set. Hopefully it’s just a bug and they fix it. The remote option is also laggy. Overall really disappointed unfortunately. I know it has worked for others, not sure what’s wrong with mine.

This is the only telephone where I could find the auto scrolls well but the app is so glitchy it feels like it’s made with outdated software and now it just crashes every time I open it
