Love this app!

Now I can’t live without it!

PhotoPills has been an invaluable tool throughout my photography journey. I highly recommend purchasing this app. If you can envision a photo you want to capture, PhotoPills will assist you in planning the necessary steps. For instance, if you’re aiming to photograph the moon directly behind the Statue of Liberty’s torch, PhotoPills can help you plan the shot. If you can conceive of it, PhotoPills will assist you in planning it.

If it doesn’t do it, you don’t need it…

The information provided by this app has been very useful for planning certain shoots. I use it regularly.

I thought because of the apps I already had and were already paid for I could make due without this one. In hindsight I was just punishing myself and making shooting harder and overly complex for the sake of a few bucks. There is no substitute for PhotoPills

This app is great if you dedicate lots of time and watch lots of videos. Otherwise, the steep learning curve will overwhelm the casual user.

Just getting into astrophotography and this app is awesome for planning my night in advance!

I know the name of my subject, several kilometers away, but I don’t know where it is in the map. There is no way I can search by landmark name. Looks like the only way to do it is to zoom the map, see if the landmark can be found, and then drop the pin.

UPDATE 17.Nov.2025: PURE EXCELLENCE! UPDATE 23.Jul.2022. This app is, after seven years, still used by me on most every photographic shoot I do. THE VERY BEST! UPDATE 25.May.2015. Shot my first Galactic Center! I LOVE this app. Take the time to read the Photopills tutorials and articles...they are excellent and thorough. UPDATE 21.Jul.2014 Great app, and now Milky Way planner to boot. (View their online tutorials; it takes some practice to make full use of the app...unless you're an astrophysicist photographer! :) ) ORIGINAL This is the equivalent of a 3 person support team doing your research before a shoot! Packed with useful tools. Incredibly simple to use. Augments and competes for use against TPE. Looking for lens database to go with the extensive camera database, and a universal app to take advantage of the iPad layout.

I tried several videos and still so confusing.

This app is amazing and the amount of information available continues to blow me away. There is so much to learn but I started simple and keep adding features. The science and technology in this app is second to none.

I had to hand calibrate everything every time. Then it would change again. I was facing east and it was convinced I was facing NW and would not let up. Waste of time and money

Very useful for photo work

This app almost seems schizophrenic. It’s difficult to learn.

I recently got another phone than what my original purchased app was done on. On all my other apps - they helped out to get me my purchased apps on my new phone. This one was only one that wouldn’t :( Disappointed, they could have done something. Not wanting to spend another $10 on an app I already purchased.
