Thank you for making Word completely and utterly worthless. I used to be able to work any time I needed. Now, even if I am signed in, if I lose connection to the internet, I cannot download and edit a document on my iPad because my account cannot handshake with the server. This makes Word useless for work on the go or work at home when the wifi is down. Thanks for nothing Microsoft!

The app frequently prints old cached versions even after many edits. The updated version is saved, showing correctly, and available on one drive, but the old version is still what is exported or printed. This is a very basic problem that should be an easy fix in the software. Yet it has persisted for years. For many years I sent people old versions of documents without realizing it, and I suspect many people may be doing the same even today. Furthermore, the interface is incredibly limited and lacks many basic features. You cannot easily format your document from the app, and many actions are simply impossible.

If the university did not require the use of Microsoft Word, I would likely choose not to use it. From a student’s perspective, reliance on a single proprietary platform can feel unnecessary, particularly when viable alternatives exist. For this reason, academic departments should critically evaluate whether continuing to allocate funds to Microsoft remains the most efficient and pedagogically justified decision. While Microsoft’s tools provide standardization, integration, and institutional support, comparable platforms such as Google Docs and LibreOffice Writer offer accessible and cost-effective solutions that meet many of the same functional needs. Therefore, universities should consider balancing convenience and tradition with cost efficiency, flexibility, and the evolving preferences of students and educators.

I have a couple page document with some comments. Every time I open a comment it immediately closes. If I try to scroll or move the cursor, the app scrolls that part of the document off screen. Miserable user experience

Needs to do better to work with iPads works good with computers

Use to be free now word wants a subscription, nah I’m ok I’ll find a different app. That does the exact same thing .

Imposible to sign in with a simple password, too many security requirements to sign in that makes inpossible to sign in from a movile device

When I use Word to present a message/presentation, I cannot fully depend on the reliability of Word. It automatically scrolls to the top in the middle of my presentation. There are several bugs that need to be ironed out. Pages is what I currently use because it is much more reliable.

I’ve been using Microsoft Word since just about its inception. It still surpasses, in my experience, the use of Google Docs and other software in regard to word processing It does a pretty very good job of converting to Google and vice versa. I feel it is more intuitive. Four stars, not five, b/c of the price and the fact that is no person you can contact with questions or service.
