Duolingo: Language & Chess

I type in the correct answer and says I’m wrong and shows the exact same thing I typed😡

I'm to busy for it

I canceled my subscription yesterday, I have had the app since 2017 or so, and currently have a 1,489-day streak, so I have some experience with the app both as a paid and unpaid user. I’ve used it for Chess, German, Arabic, Math, Hebrew, Russian, Spanish, and Irish. The move away from using actual language speakers and adoption of AI translation led me to decide to not renew my annual subscription. The translation errors or technical gaps in some of the smaller, less-popular languages like Hebrew or Irish could have been better solved by paid humans, but were not. The Arabic program seems largely computer-derived, the Hebrew one was, if I recall correctly, largely volunteer and doesn’t appear to have been updated in years. Since cancellation, every single finished lesson has had a long ad urging for a free trial of the Premium product, followed by a long ad for some merge game. I’m probably going to get to 1,500 days and then uninstall completely. This was a helpful way to keep refreshed on foreign alphabets/abjads, and for the very popular languages the detail of the lessons is much higher.

I learned my language in like only 3 months this app is amazing

Duolingo has taught me to speak Greek and do math in fun ways with great praise and pressure for you to keep going with learning!

This game helped me get better at multiplication and go me into musical advanced classes

It’s a great app. My daughter is learning how to speak Japanese and practicing on her French chess and piano. There’s so many great things to learn on there, but sometimes you can’t practice because your power is up. But overall, I think it’s a very good app.

I was a novice Japanese speaker but then I found Duolingo and it helped me a lot.

I think the platform is good but the super Duolingo ads are so annoying especially as a kid that didn’t have money
