Reviews
The UI is a bit rough around the edges, but this app is actually life-changing once you figure out how to use it.
This app is just so good for learning languages.
I bought this app to support Anki, but after using it, I hardly ever use the desktop version anymore. I use the built in drawing pad for learning to write Kanji, and syncing the hundreds of megabytes of media I have between my computer and iPad is made simple. You can even install a custom stroke order font for learning how to write each character properly. Thanks to Anki, I've learned 1000 kanji in about 3 months. I can't recommend this app enough.
Canceled the subscription and deleted the app. They still charge me $25.
One of my weapons to learn anything
I understand wanting to put a price on a mobile version just so that some money is being generated but 25 dollars is way too steep of a convenience fee. It drove me away from my language learning goals until I had the fortune of someone buying it for me. The app is equivalent to the free desktop version but for everyday review on mobile I would just use a web browser.
Anki is free everywhere else, and the creator says that the iOS version is what allows them to keep it free everywhere, so i would expect iOS to be the most up to date version, but it rarely is. I would expect it to at least have all the functionality that the online version does. You cant even add decks from here. There are also constant syncing issues, where changes i make on mobile dont get saved. I am now redoing an hours worth of work because all my changes didn’t get properly saved. This happens aaall the time.
The goat app in memory flash cards 🐐
Not all the images load when using the decks like the desktop version. Great desktop app but poor mobile glitchy app
I spent some time watching YouTube and reading their info page. I feel the cards I'm making and using are much better than another program I was using. The best part is how customizable it is. It can be a little intimidating, but just use the features you like and leave things you don't understand alone.
I’m happy to support the developer of Anki but the mobile app has very bad UX so I might just end up using the web app in safari.
I use it to learn Japanese. Please add a dark mode for the app icon though!
20 bucks for pocket anki is worth it. This is the only way the developer makes money. No add ons. No monthly subscriptions. No pop ups. No gimmicks. Seamlessly connected to desktop FREE version. Easy simple and effective. Multiple add ons. Can’t go wrong.
Good app for education $25 not expensive for this app why I say that cause $$25 you can get an update from the author for life time and the author have to spend money to keep your data on the website. Best invest app for my education. Wish the author and his team still keep going moẻ complete for the Anki.
I just bought this app for $24 and the answers won’t even show up when I reveal the card. It’s one I downloaded online so maybe that’s the problem? Even so it worked the first time now it isnt.
I’ve spent more than 1000 hours using anki. I’ve memorized a ton of Spanish vocab, US history, maps, basically anything I truly want to retain I put in here and know that eventually I’ll lock it into my memory.
I got the iOS version of the app with the expectation that it would convert a pdf into flashcards. I was very disappointed that the app did not let you import files into the app. When that was the sole reason why I got the app. I tried to get the computer version but I have a chrome book so for me it downloaded but it did not want to open. A part of me wants a refund but not sure how that would work. Just be careful with that when it comes to app.
1. Often looping between two cards when there are more than 10+ learning cards. 2. Often cannot rotate screen on iPad. 3. Please stop pop more new card and old cards while there are more than 40 learning cards 4. FSR is slightly worse than not enabled 5.sometimes anki shows No cards today but I haven’t learned any cards today, statics shows that there are 100+ cards expiring. Raise reviews card count doesn’t work.
I don’t have time to write an extensive review because I wasted a ton of time with “Anki Pro” which has nothing to do with the original and best in class Anki Flashcard app. So now I am behind in my studies. Anyway, there is no more powerful, customizable and useful flashcard app in existence, period. This is the one. Is it flashy and pretty? No. But, if that’s really what you want, you and I don’t have much in common and my recommendations wouldn’t mean much to you anyway. YOU CAN RECORD AUDIO DIRECTLY INTO THESE CARDS unlike Anki Pro, which again, has nothing to do with this app. And the computer & web based versions are totally free. If you want to learn, and you want to support real developers that don’t play games (like using another product’s name) but instead diligently create and maintain free open source software, buy this app to support them and avoid Anki Pro.
A simple app and overall program that doesn’t require a subscription (unlike a certain app, iykyk) to use. Overall, money well worth it especially with the synchronization that I, so far, have had no issues with. Thank you Anki team for being the best purchase and assistant with studying for me!
