I had a very concerning experience using Booking.com that others should be aware of. I booked an Airbnb style property through the platform, and the host required payment outside of Booking.com via Apple Cash. After sending $500, the host stopped responding and never provided access to the property. We were left without accommodations at night in a city we were unfamiliar with 1,000 miles from home. What is most concerning is that this listing remained active long enough for multiple reviews to identify it as a scam before it was removed. Despite providing documentation, Booking.com has refused to take responsibility and has made the resolution process unnecessarily difficult. This situation raises serious concerns about how listings are monitored and how customer protection is handled when fraud occurs. ***Update since booking.com just responded to this and asked me to contact customer service. Humorous. I have been in contact with customer service since the start of this. I provided them with clear documentation, including proof of the $500 Apple Cash payment, bank statements, message history showing the host required off-platform payment and then stopped responding, and confirmation of my reservation. The payment timing aligns directly with the communication from the host, and the listing has since been removed after multiple reviews identified it as a scam. Despite this, Booking.com has stated they are unable to verify the connection between the payment and the reservation.

Avoid Booking.com if you value accountability and do not want any random extra charges. They added an incorrect €100 fee to my fully prepaid reservation just because I updated my contact information. Booking.com admitted the mistake on Oct 31, 2025, promised a refund—then completely stopped following through. It has now been 7+ months, 11+ emails, 10+ phone calls (13+ hours total), and even a moment where a customer service agent hung up on me and never called back. Still no refund. I filed a complaint with the BBB, and even BBB couldn’t get a response from Booking.com after 3 weeks. That tells you everything. Booking.com kept pretending to “process” the refund—asking for bank details months late—and then did absolutely nothing. If anything goes wrong with your booking, you may be ignored, stalled, or dismissed entirely. Use at your own risk. Another follow up with my 11th call after talking with the seemingly very polite agent, I was asked to send additional information over email for them to pick up the process. So I did, and asked him to confirm receiving my email on the phone. Guess what, he refused to confirm saying it would like up to 24hr for the email to reach, so I hang up the phone and waited for 24hr, only to get the notification that the email address they gave me could not be delivered!! I’ve verified the email spelling three times with the agent on the call to avoid any typo. That’s why the agent refused to confirm with me on the spot! This is the kind of solution they would provide you. It’s utterly unbelievable behavior by such a big company…
Better selections than some sites. However selection process is clumsy, it needs to be easier to compare amenities and sort out requirements
Not place to be again!! Expensive, No updates it’s old, air conditioning noise it’s too much. I wish I can get my money back.
Comfortable bungalow with all of the necessities. We were able to walk virtually everywhere. The room was clean and updated. The only downside I would say is that parking is difficult and expensive (between $25 and $30 a day). The courtyard is a nice touch, but could definitely use some upkeep. All in all a wonderful stay, and would stay at this location again!
Booked wrong flight, paid 250$ extra to choose seat, never got to do that, help line doesn’t work, automated piece of ****. Terrible experience
I have been trying to get a refund from Booking.com for 2 weeks now due to the war. They are trying to pass the buck to the hotel and the hotel is trying to pass it back to them. What a shameful way to conduct business.
We booked a hotel room 3 months ago for a stay in June of this year in Paris and it was just CANCELLED by booking.com For no apparent reason. There are 5 of us staying 4 nights in an air conditioned room and this is very difficult to find in Paris that is not remote or super expensive. Booking.com offered me no discounts on the replacement reservation or suggestions of other places to stay - WORST BOOKING SITE EVER!
We have used the Booking App for 3 years and have always been pleased! In Nebraska, South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana, we have found great accommodations at a reasonable price!
Watch out for the reviews about hotels, etc. on Booking. Be sure to read the entire review which requires you to do more than just scroll down the reviews. I just wrote a review that was mostly bad, but being that they only highlight the section that asks “What was good” future customers don’t see the bad parts unless you dig deeper. Feels really deceptive by Booking only to highlight the one good thing.

This app is easy to use and I am able to book hotels that I’ve stayed at in the past and have loved. They have lots of options and competitive rates
The experience was confusing and frustrating. I checked out early after the hotel confirmed a refund, but the process was unclear. Booking said the hotel is responsible, and the hotel said Booking will handle it. This caused unnecessary stress.
