Noir - Dark Mode for Safari

I purchased Noir and put it to use for several weeks of nighttime Safari browsing. I wanted to love Noir but I now use a different extension. Problem is, Noir allows a bright, all-screen, white flash fairly often, I believe whe n switching tabs or first loading a site. Its a dealbreaker for me. The issue has been reported by others in Reddit but dismissed by the app creator as ‘inevitable’. I’m not trying to be a jerk, just factual when I disagree. In the same Reddit thread, users mentioned that Nitefall and another extension work without flashing, so I tried Nitefall. It doesn’t flash and I haven’t used Noir since.

Absolutely my favorite extension. Has worked flawlessly since the second update.

It’s great. Works like magic. The few times it doesn’t detect a website’s dark mode, it’s a simple switch to toggle it off. Love the editor themes (though I think the colors seem a little off for some of them than I’m used to in editors). Got the Mac app too.

Constantly having to disable on a majority of sites due to poor color mode detection and loading issues. Great when it works but that's not often.

Use it regularly

This app, while effective, prevent safari from loading some pages and radically slowing down load times.

Like many college students, I am up all night far too often studying and working on assignments. Canvas nor Google Docs have dark mode options (at least on Safari) and this actually works!! My eyes are saved!

This app used to work very well and I happily paid to support it. Now I find myself turning it off so frequently that I’ll likely uninstall it soon.

This does exactly what it says it does. Easy to use, out of the way, service and forget it situation. Love it

I was using one for years that worked pretty well but the dev did minimal updates and it started having a ton of issues.. been using Noir for many months now and it seems much better so far and you can tell the developer takes pride in their work, happy to see frequent improvements over time that add useful features and fix bugs. Most importantly the dark theme it generates for websites look excellent and nearly native, without big slowdowns and crashes that I’ve experienced with others. The only minor issue has been that it falsely detects native dark modes sometimes, but I see a reporting tool has been added and it’s easy to override this as well. Lastly I’ll mention the interface is attractive and simple within safari and has some advanced features I’ll definitely make use of, great work! Highly recommended.

Makes webpages easy on the eyes in Safari. A must have quality of life improvement! 👍👍

I usually do not review apps but i think this one deserves some attention and credit. Thanks to the developers.

Love the app

When trying to open another tab on iPad Pro the keyboard doesn’t appear. Ever since we started using this app.

honestly perfect for safari. also happy that it was only a onetime payment for the whole experience

On those websites that this app works, it’s very useful, but I have to constantly disable it to read some websites which basically present a blank page when the background doesn’t get darkened. I’m not a fan of this new web design fetish of dark,low contrast text that makes this app necessary

Works as intended

If you have websites that aren’t working, click the extension tab again and select “ignore built in dark mode”. I went back into the Nior app and selected “Ignore all built in dark modes” so I don’t have to do that every time. I bought this because the Travel Guide app is so nice that I wanted to see how good this one is too lol. I’ve always wanted dark mode on safari yay!!!

Apple needs to hire the developer of this app. This is my review.
