ID.me Authenticator

After a number of attempts to take a picture of my license they finally excepted it. When trying to sign into my government account with ID.me it said there was a mismatch. Why didn’t they clear this up when I went through the verification process? Also the verification process was very complex. If you aren’t tech savvy it would be next to impossible to get through it. I would bet that a high percentage of folks would quit before finishing.

2nd class next to the best but government forces you use this junk! Must being getting a cut of the money!

Yeah, even if you have a passkey and know your password, and have MFA, save yourself an hour and just reset the MFA and do the video selfie. It’s literally the only way to log on.

Creating an entirely new app and requiring it instead of any of the existing authenticator apps is insecure and a really bad look.

I can access portions of my account with this app, but not all. Keeps leading to dead ends

1) I would prefer to use my own OTP generator. Why does id.me make me use theirs? 2) I tried to submit feedback request and form did not work, LOL. The email field does not get feedback on what you’re typing. Even if you do manage to type your email and it says invalid email???

There is no sort of backup or even an option to move codes from old phone to the new phone. You just have to register again.

Ahh this shady as night in the dark. Hiw can this be id.me’ authenticator app when the website itself dont recognize any code from their app or app using their name (as it is on website mknd you)!!! Shady don’t download

ID.ME until recently supported third party authentication apps, like Authy that use standardized and proven protocols for authentication. Why do you have to come with your own proprietary app so that nobody can use their preferred authentication apps and is forced to install another authentication app. It doesn’t even support an encrypted backup or at least a mechanism to store the shared secrets. If you lose your phone, you’re back to the horrible verification process that could take weeks to process by ID.ME. It’s a shame that ID.ME is given this monopoly on “serving” the US government and they’re completely abusing this position for their own selfish gain.

I’ve tried several times now to give them the information they want and all I get is a runaround just like everybody else said !!!

This website and app has failed to verify my identity more than once. Even when I tried to get a hold of someone, it still wouldn’t allow me to.

Avoid this process if you can. Text message notification is simple and quick. If you get a new phone this process will continue to identify your old device as you with no clear way to fix.

I could not understand how to get through the authentication part of the non instructions. Sent an hour going over and over and over the extra security non instructions! Then I went to the “virtual” fake person site where the fake person ask me 40 questions as to what I didn’t understand. And because I didn’t understand what I didn’t understand. I answered every time and the virtual hum kept asking me questions that I couldn’t answer. I ask at least ten times to speak to a real human. Finally they put a real person on to type more of the same questions that I couldn’t answer and there was no way for me to type from my end, anyway! I am a grad school graduate. But am 73 years old and don’t understand the lingo on this site! All I wanted to do was to use the SSI government site. Not going to happen because I also idiotically, have to be verified by this stupid site! They will not call you at all. Even if I already have filled out the complete SSI information and that was accepted!

I just downloaded this app because I needed to get my SSN card, and I set up everything on my browser, Safari. Although I am using an iPhone 5s, I have the OFFICIAL iOS version, 12.5.7. This really pisses me off as it is my only phone and I can’t even use this app.

I can’t verify my ID since I can’t manage to merge my accounts. Plus, I can’t talk to anyone to help me with this. The only support they have is an AI chat.

Codes won’t generate on my new phone but still generate on my old phone. I cant get my new phone to generate the codes for any of the various websites.

Just keeps telling me I don’t have MFA enabled but also won’t let me enable. I am unable to login to the vital information I need and the AI is useless but no human to speak with. Huge fail. Hate that I’m stuck with this garbage.

Just stinks. Such a pain in the neck. Never works properly. Constantly having to start over authentication.
